You should be able to rotate the level indicator tube to remove the vast majority of the water. If you want to remove all the water, which really isn't necessary, you can make an access hole on the lid and insert a tube connected to a pump; plug it when not in use. I always treated dwc as an aquarium and only did partial changes every week or so; never had any nute issues.Like the example in the photo,
I wanna change the reservoir every couple of weeks to reduce salt build up, but looks impossible to do so after i place the scrof net.
Got any ideas? Is it really necessary?
If not which topping off method you do and why?
Thanks. Luv you allView attachment 5403625
Yeah this is pretty much what I do, I just have a big 100L DWC though, and nothing else, so I have a cheap water pump and 10m of hose, and just drain it out into the toilet in the next room.i have a little bit bigger tubs (60 or 70L) what i have done i drilled a little hole the same size as a little aquarium pump the pump does 200L/h the hose reaches my toilet soo you dont have to carry anything. same with the readings of ph and ppm same hole just a little suction thing hand pump

Takes about 40 mins to drain or refill, as its quite a slow pump, but it's good for this purpose as it doesn't pump so fast to make me rush around too much!!!
To refil I do the same in reverse, but I prepare the new solution in the bath tub, so I can adjust PH, EC etc. And when I'm happy with it, pump it back in from there.
It's a dedicated pump and hose just for this purpose, so I can pack it up after use, but I do run some chem-san (sanitizer for beer brewing kit) through it before and after use, to keep the hose clean.
I have seen the light and am converting dwc to Rdwc with the 27 gallon black and yellow tote from HD. 1 inch jaccuzi spa for only 2 buckets.RDWC is the best solution.
I have similar. I plastidipped the yellow tops black, then top coated it white. Helps keep light out, while also reflecting it.I have seen the light and am converting dwc to Rdwc with the 27 gallon black and yellow tote from HD. 1 inch jaccuzi spa for only 2 buckets.
At the recommendation of a master grower I am making a dam around the exit of all 3 containers that will stop wandering roots from finding the hole in the bucket. It will not stop a verticle decent by the roots but once they hit the floor they will not climb until the root mass is 3 inches tall. At that point it should be to big to get into the 1 inch hole.I have similar. I plastidipped the yellow tops black, then top coated it white. Helps keep light out, while also reflecting it.
Also, the bigger the return pipes the better to avoid roots clogging the pipes. 2-1/2 sch 80 is good, 3" sch 80 better.
