Drying seeds?

This is my first official grow and I'm delighted to say that it is going swimmingly! Anyways I pollinated one of the branches and got some nice brown seeds. Can I plant these right away? What is the benefit of letting them dry out?

Hey Spence the variables are everywhere in the land of cannabis . Some seeds will require a curing time for best results or any at all , yet other plants will give seeds that fall from the buds and grow .. Might as well allow them to dry a bit first and see how a small test batch germinates .. You ll know in no time with just one test run ........
