Hey guys, New to this forum.
Just got a 400 HPS kit. Been doing
ALOT of reading etc, Tried some
grows with a nice CFL setup I made.

Anyway, I wanted to make sure I have the wiring right before I go to wire it up! So I laid it out, and labeled it best I could with paint...

Substitute the 240, for 120 lead though. I think Im going to use 120 because most things that plug up are 120.

Thanks, I look forward to hangin
out around here more as an active
member, Ive read alot on here but
Decided to finally register:hump:

:joint::hump:<--- joint humper.

So Anyway I will check back tomorrow
and most likely post up in the introduce yourself section as well.... And also I have wiring experience and all that, Just never done anything like HPS
and I dont want to jump the gun haha.

Lets toke!:joint:

yes that looks good. make sure you put a wire nut on the voltage input wires that you dont use. they will have power on them even though your not using them.

when you run your wire from the ballast to the light, make sure to use #12 awg. wire and try and keep the length as short as possible. i run a ground to my light also and hook it to the reflector.

check out the link in my sig.

well, Im about to wire this thing up pretty soon, Dont see any objections still so ONly thing im changing from my pic would be the 240 volt lead, Im going to use the 120 as I stated before, And so heres to NOT burning my house down :joint: :joint:

All the leads are insulated, But I'll probly tape the end anyway. There arent any exposed wires at the moment, All I gotta do is strip back the 120 lead.

..Yeah Waiting on my ducting and stuff to come, But as far as the wiring of the light.... My first time ever seeing one so it took a minute to heat up, And slowly turned this orange hue.... And I was like :hump:. Then unplugged and it slowly went back down to normal.... So now I can actually move on and install it and finalize wire connections...

great im glad it works for you. remember that if you have the light on then you turn it off, you need to wait about 20 minutes before you turn it on again. this will save the life of the bulb and ballast.
i know you were just testing the bulb and you had it base down, make sure that your bulb has the letter U in it for universal burning position. like LU-400

Yeah its universal mount.... I still gotta do the room, im having trouble getting myself in order here so much going on, But I knwo I should take my time and get at least a little of the grow in order, Or it will be a confused mess again.
