Not unusual at all, those are the just the bracts/pistils of the bud (they basically make up the bud structure). You’ll often mistakenly see them referred to as a calyx. This is where seeds would form ( the ovule) if the plant were to be pollinated. The stigmas (usually referred to as pistils) will change color as the bud matures, and the bracts will swell as well.

I think this discussion and argument is a little bit naive. Bract is the bottom structure of a Calyx and I think only Cannabis growers still argue about this technicality?

Do you want it to be called the bottom part or Calyx as being used in every other flowering crop?

I don’t much care what nomenclature people use. He asked what that part of the flower was called, and I answered him using the correct terms.

People can call it a sugar-titty, a crystal tit or a calyx for all I care.

But it’s called a perigonal bract/stigma, and perianth ( contains the calyx which can’t be seen from the outside). Bract for short/slang.

Some people still call trichomes crystals or sugar. Some people spell trichome like tri-chrome.
None of this befronts me a bit. I just personally try to use correct terminology and not sound dumb.
