Does anyone have plans for a light stand?

Do you want something freestanding? are you growing in a room? Can you suspend the light from a ceiling or do you want to be able to move it around?

You could build something out of wood, PVC, pipe, etc..

To build what is in the picture, looks like you'd need (7) PVC straight connectors, (6) PVC 90 degree connectors, and (2) "T" connectors and the PVC pipe and glue.

Hey uhh e-mail I would like to see that with two uprights tied together across the top for stability. As shown I'm guessing you would have to use 1 1/2"?? How did you do that?? VV

Hi VictorVIcious - i found that picture on the web and looked to see how it was built. I have an enclosed reinforced cabinet and hang my lights from the ceiling of the cabinet.

I did find a pic of a more stabile stand per your recommendations (I think it is from American Agro). If i were to build this, i would use 1 1/2" PVC instead of the metal. And I would add a piece on top for added stability. In fact, i would blend the best of the other one with this one to make something of my own design. You could make the frame bigger and just wrap it up in poly and make a grow room that way! With some added framework for fans and the grow system, etc... But i like using wood so i'll probably stick with that (though it is heavy)!

I thought you had some program you did it with. Mine hang from 2x4's screwed to the ceiling and all five of my flood and drain tables are wood. I built them and posted the build in diy. This is the clone stand I use. VV

2x4, eye hook screws, chain, S hooks.

That sounds familiar :-)

I screw the top part of the eye hook with the chain looped through it for safety. In case the chain slips while i'm adjusting it won't crash into the floor before the safety chain catches it (see pic)

I pretty much built the same thing email posted there but with 4.x 2 and it held the 1kw light and reflector fine. Hassle to move around but it worked. :)

nice safety chain setup. never thought of doin it that way. i just crimp my S hooks down

I was thinking it probably wouldn't save the plants but it might save the glass cover and bulbs. And the plants might be salvageable. I think for the ideal safety, I'd use a completely different chain/cable rather than the same one I use for moving it.

def. expensive equipment for sure, havent really thought about puttin a safety chain on my lights guess it would be a good idea.
