Do we really require that many nutrients? Do you just need veg/bloom nutes?

Something I noticed when I started growing is the excess of nutrient types we have. I was overwhelmed and I bought almost all of them. I felt like I needed everything. Cal mag, flowering nutes, PK, nitrogen, stimulants, root development... but as time passes, I reduced this a lot; now I almost only use veg/bloom nutes.

My question is, has anyone noticed a real difference when stopping a certain nutrient from a certain brand besides basic ones (NPK)? Something outside the typical veg/bloom nutes. I saw a post some years ago of someone who had monster plants. He claimed he only used veg/bloom nutes, and that any other nutrients were not really necessary. Did any of you notice something similar?

Yes. I've always known that. I've never used more than a 3 part base nutrient. You don't need all those bottles. All using too much stuff does is cause all the nutrient issues so many people end up having. You don't need a chemistry set to grow weed.

Welcome to reality :peace:

You don't need all that... I'm running jacks hydro, calnit, no epson and hit them with MKP at week 2.5 for a PK spike. Might start incorporating Power SI. I'm getting the best results with this lineup and I've run many different lines.

I don't think so, I grew a couple plants alright with AN micro, grow, bloom, I didn't need the rest of the bottles they sell. I would have gotten better results probably, maybe.

you can hit them with seaweed solution that does the same thing with added microbes and plant stimulators

as far as im concerned, the plant food in single or triple bottles should have everything you need for a grow.
as has nbeen stated allready, the extras are snake oil or things that should be in the plant food in the first place.
there are circumstances where the addition of cal mag are needed, but otherwize its just making more money from the unknowing grower.
gardener, " what do i need to grow my plants" shop keeper, well it depends on how much you know about growing" lol

It's crap really, I mean AN nutrients has 2 lines: the 3 part nutrient line micro grow and bloom for beginers, and the 2 part connoisseur line for master growers. I mean what that fuck is that, pardon my expression, whats the master-beginer difference between mixing some liquids with water and feeding it.

This is one of those things where the basics will get you 95% of the max, and then you need crazy skills to use the extras to squeeze out tiny additional gains.

I've dropped Mammoth P with this round.. That shit is $200 for 1000ml. Just going to stick with the Flora Trio, and CalMag. I haven't really noticed any difference in not using it. Matter of fact, I seem to be having better trichome production. Could be other factors tho. Who knows.

I think it’s a new grower thing, you see all these pretty labels and you get sucked in, and then some come to realise it’s not actually needed. I use veg/bloom base and a bit of cal mag if ladies need it. I do use a pk booster once a few weeks from harvest and that hasn’t done any harm and my buds do seem more solid after a week of using it. Oh and I use root juice when there seedlings.

I've never given my plants bottled additives, but I used to feed them all of the NPK RAW supplements. Altogether they were costing me a ton of money, and I haven't noticed any difference since I stopped using them. I miss the smell of Full Up though.

@2klude do you use the 5,12,26 and what is MKP

Yeah jacks hydro is there 5-12-26. I feed 3.0g per gallon of jacks, 2.5 of calnit and I don't run any epson salt like most do, I feel jacks has enough mag in it already at 6%. MKP is mono-potassium phosphate. I feed that around week 2.5 @ .5g per gallon as a PK boost. This simple recipe grows some dank buds and I grow 6 different strains every run and everyone is happy. Plenty of variables though... what works for me in my setup and grow style might not be the same for you but its a solid recipe IMO... many running similar schedule.

If you want to use a P/K booster just get a pound of water soluble MKP. It will last you years. Same thing with potassium sulfate. Both of which are the primary ingredients in a good portion of the bottled boosters out there. But feeding properly and keeping your plants healthy from start to finish will yield the best results. No boosters needed.
