Do Pine Needles Grow Back? (Fire)

I burnt a fire near a pine tree and it flamed up and heated the tree.
Most of the needles or 40% browned!

Will they grow back?
Im told pine is not that tough of a tree and cant take a hit like this.

The bark and tree and top is fine, in fact the tree was perfect but as the days went by I see the needles have browned. :finger:

U won't get any new candles this year bro. I've burned pines myself. If the tree is otherwise healthy then there's always next year.

In nature this is normal event, even some tree seeds require a fire to germinate.

It kinda depends on how complete the fire was, but I think your lower branches will not come back.

Now put your matches away and play nice in the future.

Hey buddy it's been 10 years but - DID THEY GROW BACK??? I recently did this myself and feel bad and there isn't much info on this on the web. Hope you are still around to answer! Thanks!!!

Bottom growth that was burned will not grow back but if the tree is still alive new growth with form at the top and tips of surviving branches.

Thanks - will the brown needles fall off? They are way at the bottom of a VERY tall tree which has plenty of green needles at the top... But I still can't reach them to like remove them or anything. They just look ugly now. Tree is fine.

They'll eventually fall off. Grab a saw and climb that tree and cut the dead branches off. :mrgreen:

For what it’s worth ....... I had a barn burn down over this past winter and it was surrounded by pines ...... of course all the needles died but they’re full of new growth now just five months later. Will they survive the hot summer........ only time will tale.

hope so for both of our sakes! I feel bad every time I look out and see those brown needles amongst all the green....

We’ve got a bad pine beetle infestation here in the SE USA so I see dead trees everywhere. I have two dead in a patch of over a hundred and I doubt any will be alive in 5-10 years.
