Do I Need A Contactor For A 250watt Grow King ? ?

Contactor Relay , not sure if you call it somthing else , iv got a 2kw for my hps lights

i dont even think you *need* one for your 1000watt lights

wont you timers melt without them ...?

Are you referring to a ballast maybe?

i donno what timers ur using but mine are rated for like 1700 watts each... 8$ @ home depot

they sell shit loads of them on ebay,i thought you had to have them, the guy at my hydro shop says the current melts the insides of normal timers without them,

so nobody has ever heard of a contactor relay for lamps????? maybe its a uk thing...

has anyone from the uk ever heard of them? have i been mugged off here ?

is that just a power surge? in case your fuse, or leccy cuts out, thus making sure your lights, timers dont get damaged?

I use these contactors/timers for 600w ballasts, and they never let me down.
Most timers will have information telling you what total wattage can pass through them, thats why alot of people buy heavy duty timers, and don't use a contactor.
