Diy rosin press?

I’m looking into using a rosin press to extract my oils in future to prevent the use of solvents.

I can’t find a seller of a press specifically for cannabis where I am.

I want one big enough so I can press at least an oz of bud at a time... so I don’t have to spend ages pressing all my bud one after the other.

If I buy a 20 ton hydroloic shop press can anyone give me info or point me in the right direction as to how I would modify it for use to extract cannabis oil?

I’ve tried googling a bit but can’t find what I’m
Looking for specifically.

Cheers

I found I can import a NugSmasher 7” x 10 “ press plate and buy a 30 ton shop press I think

If I understand what I’ve found out correctly

So I’ve figured that out.

My next question if anyone can help is, what can I use for rosin bags. Is there a way to buy mesh and make my own bags somehow as I cannot but large 7” x 10” bags here

Check out DabPress.

Not sure why you want to press an zip at a time, I think you would lose too much in the process, JMHO.
I have a DabPress 6 ton with a 3 x 5 plate, I can do a zip in less than 30 minutes using four - 7 grams pucks.
Glad you are looking to get away from solvents, good move on your part.

Wal Mart sells rosin presses. However search for heated platens for use in hydraulic presses. A 20 ton is kind of overdoing it.

I want to process 100 oz of bud every 4 weeks for commercial oil supply.

Doing a tiny amount at a time will take me absolutely ages.

Why would you lose more rosin if you have a bigger plate with the correct heat and pressure?

I have not used a large press, but I see what is left in my spent plugs and I believe that making a plug or package with an ounce would leave too much Rosin in the package.
I can't say that for sure but just an observation.
With my press it would take me 50 hours to press 100 zips, but having 4 weeks, that would be 12 hrs a week. My return per ounce is about the same as I get making FECO, but with the spent pucks I can get a few more grams in the form of FECO.

Good luck there Buddy!

50 hours in 4 weeks doesn’t seem like much but when I’m tending to the plants throughout those weeks as well it makes it more difficult.

I managed to process 100 oz of bud with iso alcohol by using 30l buckets full of bud and another 30l bucket full of iso... pour iso into bud fast. Quick stir, dump through a strainer into another 30l bucket then drain through several bubble hash filters...

Took me about an hour of labour, 6 hours of waiting for the strainer and a week for the iso to evap.

I was hoping to find a way to rosin press without solvent just as quick if not a bit slower, guess it isn’t possible with rosin.

You say you see some left in your bud after the squish, do you not think more pressure will push those bits out?

I only press once, but I use my pucks for cooking oil, I put them in a mason jar and when it's full I make the oil. I have to make a regular batch of cupcakes for my grandson. But they come out potent as hell.
