DIY Citric acid & baking soda CO2 Generator

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to make a post about a little CO2 generator I’ve been working on for the past few weeks. So basically how it works is you have 2 fluid reservoirs (I use a 1 gallon water jug and a 5 gallon bucket) with one being higher than the other so it can gravity drain. Fill the top with 1 gallon of Water and 200 grams of citric acid the bottom is filled with 300 grams of baking soda and 1 gallon of water make sure to dissolve the baking soda first.Using a valve you can then drip the citric acid solution into the baking soda at a constant rate and control the level of CO2 within a desired rangeIn the bottom bucket there is an air stone for agitating the mixture and pushing the CO2 into the tent.

Now the disclaimers:
No it’s not better than a bottle, but is a little more economical. (800-1000ppm in a 4x4 for alittle under $1 a day @ 18/6 with a $50 initial investment)
Yes it can be an inconvenience as you have to manually start it and shut it down everyday but will give you more control then the fermentation buckets.
Yes I know CO2 is only worth it if you have everything else optimized. Personally I’m interested because I live near a large body of water and have low pollution in my area so my PPMs without enrichment can dive into the mid 300s. But being a beginner I was keen to a budget friendly solution.

If people are interested I can do a more detailed write up but I just wanted to quickly share so that people know there’s others options then just the passive methods and the tanks/burners.
