Diy Cfl Light 8 x 26watt with Reflector

Here is an easy way to hook up some cfls for this cabinet... this light costs about 40.00 bucks total with bulbs...take 20 minutes to make!

1. 5.00 for sheet of metal i curved with my hands....find it in home depot - this is in the ducting section next to all the vents and stuff....
2. 12.00 for all 8 lights...26watt cfls @ 6500k for veg...home depot
3. 10.00 for light fixture from home depot.
4. 8.00 bucks for 4 y socket adapters at home depot.
5. 5.00 bucks for cheapo extension cord...light duty/everyday use is fine, you arent putting high wattage through it!

just mix in 2700k at a 3;1 ratio, use 6 2700k and 2 6500k for flower.

i vegged in a 4x4 tent with 9 plants as you can see and it killed it!

WOW! That's a nice looking setup you created for your light fixture. You have given me an alternative for my lighting needs. My only question is: What light fixture can you get from Home Depot for $10, was it on clearance, do you have a part number or is this an item that they have plenty available in stock??? Thank you and +rep:leaf::leaf::finger:

i just used a rope at first, now i have pro grips...

i drilled a few holes in the sheet metal and just like lacing a shoe i tied the light fixture to the sheet of metal by wrapping the rope through the metal around the fixture and back through the metal over and over until secure. At this point you can find many ways to hang it, as long as it is hanging there is no right way to do it, you can also fix your light height and just raise your plants if your set up is small.

View attachment 1468937View attachment 1468938you can see the rope good in this picture, and ont he other side of the light you just tie a new rop to the rope that is laced through or whatever you want to do!



*you can also just get two hooks and bolts and put eye-hooks on it and hang it however you want...

no man they are in the back and super cheap, they are with all the lights on display, just find a 4 fixture vanity...they had a cheaper one but it looked too cheap!

i figured before someone asks ill just put this up as well, this pic shows how i connect the extension cord to the fans or int his case the lights wires, even though the fan isnt the light it is the same connection.

chop off the female end of the extension cord, the end without prongs!
splice the wires and hook them up to the light fixture...red to red, black to black, if the light has a ground do green to green or whatever color the third cord is...twist it together with wire connectors and waalaa its grow time!

check out the cabinet in my sig for a cool cheap box!

is it just me or are you one of those guys that likes to make stupid ass comments and try and start arguments via posts...the strain is a very tall stretchy strain....

this post is about the light not the plants stranger....

just wondering, it was a question, im new at this and lost one of my plants due to stretching, learned my lesson and moved lights much closer.

That's kind of the set up I was thinking of for my first except with 3 40-watt 6500k, 2 26 watt 2700k, 1 26 watt 5000k, 1 11 watt 3500k, and 1 11 watt 4100k.

for the money you wasted on this, you could of got a 130W CFL grow light that would give your plants a lot more lumens...

8 x low wattage lights do not add up to 1 x high wattage light

not necessarily true there hot shot...no need for the cocky approach..personally i think his setup is pretty legit and far past a waste of money....i dont know about the rest of you., but ive never once came across a 130 watt cfl...... its not always about whats best, but what is obtainable....besides,, i would rather have a little row of cfls covering a good portion of space rather than one cfl covering one third of it...
