So the Light is a Blackstar 240 LED Light; how many inches do I keep the light from my freshly germinated seed? I know some people use a Humid Dome so is there a way to just plant the seed once its sprouted directly in soil and use the light, but how many inches do I keep the light from the soil?

for a freshly germinated seed keep it about a foot away. seedlings do not like strong light. wait till the second node grows and then you can drop it down to around 4" depending how hot your lights are. get a thermometer and measure temp at top of plant, stay below 80F and you will be fine. domes are nice but not necessary

I thought you were supposed to keep blackstar leds further than a foot even in flowering?

Use the hand test. Place the back of your hand directly over that part of the plant closest to the light.
Wait a few seconds. If the back of your hand is uncomfortably warm you are too close to the light.
Generally, folks are too worried about this. You can jack your plants right under the light like I do and
not worry if you did the hand test.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Do you guys even read? He has an LED light. The old "hand test" isn't gonna work here. LEDs don't put off heat like HID lights. They will however light bleach your crops if too close.
