distance from filter to fan?

My new setup has my carbon filter mounted inside the grow area and the fan outside, the distance between the two is 6-7 feet. Is that too far to work properly?
Its a 4 inch 170cfm inline fan pulling through a jr. Carbon filter and a 400 watt hps hood. Its not hooked up yet so i don't know if I have negitave pressure or not inside the grow box.

Whats the dimentions of your grow box?

The grow area is 3 x 3 x 4, very well sealed with two passive intakes.

I think you should be fine......I have a 2x4x5 grow tent with carbon filter and 190 cfm blower runnin thru a 400w hps/mh hood and it works just fine

Nope that's not too far, I run a 6x12" carbon filter on a 170cfm vortex fan and the fan is linked with alu. ducting about 10 ft. away and works just fine.

The fan always work better when they pull air instead of pushing it.
