DirtBaggers, Good Soil or Good Nutes????

If you had just enough water, just enough light, a bucket and the choice between a GOOD SOIL or a GOOD NUTRIENT, what would it be?

I know what I would choose. You got it, the good soil.

Gotta love a good soil.

What would you choose for a successful harvest?

Good genetics. I know it's not a choice but you can grow weed in freakin' sand with decent nutes and a little know how. :eyesmoke:

Thats y it says DirtBaggers. What would u choose? A good soil full of nutes from a rep. company or a no name soil like dirt/sand/terds? I dont give a shit what medium. I just wanted to see who here likes to let the soil work for them as long as it can. Sand and feeding continuously with good nutes or good soil and hardly feeding(up to a certain point)? Thats all? Lets say the genetics are great.

I still think I'd have to choose good nutes. I like good soil and definitely let it work for me but I always have to add fertilizer so I'm going with nutes. :leaf:

This is really good question. Hmm.

Soil is cheaper and nutes can be more expensive, so things can be a little trickier when you have budget issues.

Let's think this one through. While soil is good, it's really only helping you out for the first few weeks, then your nutes take over. So, it makes sense to invest in good nutes since they're going to be in play with your plants for a longer period of time.

The nutes are what's going to help your plants go from 'okay' to huge harvests.

IMHO

But it's not just that you need to get nutes, but you also need to focus on getting good nutes. Since I'm into MMJ, I like Advanced Nutrients. It just works for me and has since I started using them.

And now that we have the Wal Mart of pot out here, seems like they're going to be easy to get too.

You can also add more nutes or flush them out, but soil, well, it's there until the end of the grow, isn't it?

I would choose soil. For the vegging stage anyway.

With crap soil your just going to run into problems like PH and which everyone knows knats from soils like MG.

I use roots organic great stuff switcked from Fox Farm cus they soil seems like it has changed more bark and its so hot.

Thank you for your input. Ofcourse soil is there till the end.

Lets look at it like this though. You see Subcool not having to add any nutes really(after transplanting). "Maybe some sugars toward the ends", says Subcool. However, in theory, does he have good soil or does he have good nutes? '

I would say good soil. Yes nutes are in the soil, I know but this is about wanting to know if U like adding the nutes?

With Subcools Super Soil aside, would you rather start with a low quality soil (hardly any food or benificials) and manipulate the nutrients to get what the plant needs, or would you rather water as much as possible and let the good soil do what it does?

Im just trying to see what everyone would rather do.

I've(IMHO) had better success with a good soil and feeding hardly ever with all organic nutes.

Dude just use both. My plants would die half way through flowering if it wasn't for good nutrients added to the good soil.
