I also have a 600w lumatek. I run sunmaster MH conversion bulb for veg and a sunmaster hps for flower. Couldn't be happier.

Love my 600 lumatek. But for veg I use a 400 watt. 600 mh conversion bulbs are very wasteful. (cant wait for a true 600w mh) You only get about 36,000 lumens with the 600 conversion bulb. And you get about 40,000 lumens with a traditional 400w mh, using about 200 watts less energy. Also the adjustable wattage ballasts still use 600+ watts even at the lowest setting. It just cuts the power to the bulb, not the overall power usage. Just a few tid bits for you. Overall I dont think you can beat a lumatek ballast. Although the new NextGen look promising.bongsmilie

I use only old school magnetic ballasts. Super reliable and quiet as a mouse. If something goes wrong, they can be easily repaired.

No doubt dude. My 400 is an ole mag. And like you said, almost anyone with a screwdriver can do thier own repairs on the mags. But the digitals still produce better light from the same bulb vs. the mag.
