Determining sex....clone or strait to flower

I am currently wondering what is the best approach to determining the sex of my crop. I have a bunch of babies well on their way and out of all of them I want one good mother. I plan to flower the less attractive females while my new clones are getting ready for batch two. The question I want to ask everyone is, should I be taking clones off the 5 week old babies to determine sex?, or start flowering them all then take the most attractive female and switch it back into veg to be the mother. How long will it take for the female to go back into veg after it has just started to show its sex? And how big should the potential clones be before i cut them off the plant.

after like 4 weeks if u look by the nodes where the fan leaves join the plant u will see 2 little white hairs, eg its a female, also males tend to grow taller then the fems to shower the pollen down on to them.

its really easy in my view to tell them apart after 4 weeks veg anyhow
