hi
if and only if you have experience with testing and experimenting which light works best when you are ready to flower, add any input that you may know.(problems with heat, seen most reaction from plant, killed the electric bill lol, etc) please dont put something on here that you have no certain idea of what you are talkin about, this is for mature and experienced growers only and for you and me to learn from)
Happy Harvesting

if your going for best all around use get a HPS... with this light you can vegetate and flower.. not only that, HPS emit the most lumens(unit used to measure light) of any HID(High intensity discharge) light

If you are going to use HID lights you want to use a metal halide for vegging and an HPS for flowering. Each puts off different light spectrums that better match what plants need in the different stages of growth.

You can also use a Metal - Sodium bulb that has both a MH and an HPS filament in them so you get both light spectrums at the same time but that cuts your amount wattage and the spectrum you most need at any one time in half. Like if you have a 600 watt Metal – Sodium bulb that is like having a 300 watt MH and a 300 watt HPS running at the same time.

When in veg much of the HPS light spectrum is wasted light that the plant(s) cannot and will not use. When in flower much of the MH light spectrum is wastes light that the plant(s) cannot and will not use.

If using HID lighting you are best to either have both a MH light and then an HPS to switch to or buy an HPS and a MH conversion bulb that will run off an HPS ballast.

As for amount of wattage what size area will you be growing in and how many plants do you expect to have?

HPS will be more effective than a MH if you only have enough to get one... or a switchable light.. you'll need to buy two separate bulbs
