Hey RIU, I'm just about to start my first grow, I have been planning this since around January and finally have some money. After I went to the doc to get my papers he offered me another piece of paper that said i could grow up to 99 mature plants, so I figured I'd give it a try.
Anyways, right now I have done research on pretty much everything I need and it comes down to this, what kind of set up and how many plants. I will be growing under two 600w HPS/MH switchable Lumatek Digital Ballasts and other equipment that is not pertinent. So now, with the amount of light said, it's finally come down to deciding between these set ups, I would really like your opinions.
Scenario #1:
My plan would be to set up a 4x8 area and do either 18 plants in a 3x9 row or 32 plants in a 4x8 row. In this set up I would be planting all plants by seed until harvest with maybe a few plants with cuttings taken for mothers. This grow would be in soil with a screen attached for LST.
Scenario #2:
I would set up a 4x4 area for 2-4 mothers to grow. Then I would go to my local Co-Op and get a couple clones of my favorite stuff. Then I let them grow until they are nice and ready to take a good amout of clones.
Now I would continue to build a 4x4 area for growing clones in a SOG style grow (Soil or Hydro what's your opinion) until I have more rooms set up.
Scenario #3:
This would consist of setting up the mother station in #2 and then while the mother is growing I would gather the supplies needed and use the clones to plant another Scenario #1.
Right now I'm kind of leaning towards scenario 1, but that might not be good because I might just be getting excited and rushing it. But when i think about it, I think I'd rather do #3, and with clones from personally selected mothers I wouldn't have to worry about a wishy-washy gene pool i'd get with seeds.
