I've been 240 for 40, I always do a sniff test for toasty aroma. I'd hate to burn it.
I never grind to a powder, just break it up nice and fine. You?

If I skip the oven I'm pretty sure just the heat from the hot plate doesn't decarb which is basically what you're suggesting?
