Dear Green Entrepreneurs (Grow Light Question)

I recently bought a 1000w system for $230 on craigslist.

It's a Xtrasun Reflector with the Glass and 6" ducts.

Also a 1000w Xtrasun HPS Ballast.

Good deal? It came with a bulb although it seems like it's broken but I want to make sure it's the bulb not the ballast.

but here's my real deal. I'm using a 2x4 Ebb and Flow custom setup. Basically a 2x4 white plastic tray and a 27 gallon rez. I was originally going with a 400w hps sytem since I knew it would suffice for the area I'm working with, I was considering the 600w for some added kick but I never thought I'd have a 1000w system in my hands with my current grow situation.


Think the 1000w is going to be too much for such a little grow area or am I okay with what I got and just be happy I found a great deal?

That light will make your plants go off. You will notice a huge difference with the 1000 over the 400 or 600
Temps are what your going to have to work with now but a cool tube can be made pretty easy. Just google "homebrew cooltube"

As far as being to big for your space thats impossible. You can never have to much light on your girls.

And for the price... you did ok... you could have got a cheaper system but then you add shipping and waiting for shipping on there and your price is about the same.
