that is some kind of worm that burrows into your plant at the stem and eats its way up the plant, one way to stop them apparently is putting brillo pads around your stem... all this way told to me one day by the guy at my hydro store, i have no actuall experience

It is a boring cut worm. The rapping the stem with brillo sounds good, I rap mine with aluminum foil. Actually its something I've deal with with Vegetables but not MJ. I am surprised that they attack MJ they normally seem to attack less woody plants.
So Bt is the best organic treatment since you've missed prevention by rapping. Bt is a Bacteria that is not harmful to humans but kills the worms. If you have several plants use liquid Bt in a sprayer. Dipple Dust is a powder that works well to dust the plant and ground. Keep your eye on the plants. If you see one wilty look for the worm and excise him with a sharp razor and tape the plant back up. Most plants will fight to live and make it if you catch them early enough. Good luck

Is there a small amount of "sawdust" around the hole that they entered the plant? I had to deal with European Corn Borers last year during my outdoor grow, their a son of a bitch. I was able to cut up the stem, and manually remove them, I'm pretty sure once their in there, that's the only way to do it. Surprisingly it's not as damaging to the plant as you would think.

I've heard of some people using wire, guitar strings, or something similar to stick in the hole and pull them out. I didn't have luck with this method.

You can check if this is your problem or not. There is some great info page 1-3 about the corn borers in this thread. https://www.rollitup.org/outdoor-growing/361232-borer-problem.html

what is bt
Excerpt from http://www.ext.colostate.edu/pubs/insect/05556.html

"Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) is an insecticide with unusual properties that make it useful for pest control in certain situations. Bt is a naturally occurring bacterium common in soils throughout the world. Several strains can infect and kill insects. Because of this property, Bt has been developed for insect control. At present, Bt is the only "microbial insecticide" in widespread use. The insecticidal activity of Bt was first discovered in 1911. However, it was not commercially available until the 1950s. In recent years, there has been tremendous renewed interest in Bt. Several new products have been developed, largely because of the safety associated with Bt-based insecticides."
