Day 3 cloning for sex determination, Are my clones dead?

Hello,
I am on day 3 of cloning for sex determination. I am using the following:
Lighting
4 Phillips 2700k 100 watt equivalents bulbs in socket splitters
Mylar
Emergency blankets from Canadian tire
Other things
Rooting gel
Grodan starter plugs
Dixie Cups
Day 3 morning video and photos

Are my Clones dead? What should I do different to get a better result?
  1. I want to drop the bulbs from the ceiling by daisy chaining two socket extenders and a socket splitter

  1. I am considering to replace 5000k bulbs instead of 2700k in order to boost root development
  2. I think i may cut less of the flower leaves.
  3. The cutting is much smaller than the hole in the rockwool cube. Is this normal or should i be stuffing something else in the hole in order to lock the cutting in the cube?
  4. Is there a better guide for cloning cannabis to determine sex that is more descriptive and accurate than this video?

Yeah, they look awfully sad. If it was me i would start over. As for cloning... I use whatever method that best fits what I am doing with the clones. But just for sexing, I find it easier for me to just cut them and stick them in a 16oz solo cup with a single 1/2" hole in the bottom without cutting any leaves. And I use any seedling mix that I have around, but FF HF works great for me. Then I hold my finger over the bottom hole and pour one cup of tap water into the solo cup and wait 15 seconds or so then I let the water drain out. Then I just put them in a old scotts paper towel box that is foamed lined on the bottom with tin foil walls, and then I light them up with a 4 way cfl light with 4 X 23w 6500K bulbs about 5 inches from the tallest clone. Then I lightly spray them (3) times a day, (light on, 6 hours later, light out), with tap water, and I also give them 1 table spoon of tap water at the base of the branch. And they always root in like 4 or 5 days. And I always support the branch whether they need it or not. Now the reason I use a box instead of putting them in one of my veg rooms is because the object of the box is to give them some light, but more importantly to heat them up real good, it stays really warm in the box, and that is what makes them root super quick.

I like your simple approach. I had a question. What is FF HF? Is it fox farm? I have fox farm ocean forest soil.

I am comfortable growing in solo cups because thats what i did for germinating my seeds.

My tent provides optimal conditions for humidity (60-70 %), temperature (22-25C) for cloning. Is there any way I can filter the amount of light they would get in my veg tent by installing a shade structure that restricts the light coming through

They look quite dead. The evidence points to a lack of humidity and an excess of light. Clones may go a tad wilted for the first 24 hours as they adjust to the new environment. If the conditions are right with respect to lighting and humidity, they will spring back in no time. Those didn't spring back.

The video looks fine for cloning. Other than the substrate, which in my case is moistened Pro-Mix (I have trouble with the little cubes) in a small flower pot like the ones you get from a nursery, that is the process I follow. The only difference is:

  • I moisten the Pro-Mix with pH 6.0 water and an extremely small amount of flower nutes. In 1 liter of water, I'll use 3 - 4 drops of flower nutes.
  • I don't spray the leaves. Five (5) small "shot glass" sized cups with water are put into the clone dome ( one cup in each corner and one in the centre of the tray) and the vents are closed. Within 24 hours, you can see the high humidity in the dome. That's what we want.
  • I have a heat mat that is 2 hours on and 2 hours off. That keeps the temps in the low 80's range. If the mat is left on 24/7, the temps get a bit too high.

As for lights, one (1) 23w CFL kept about 4" - 6" above the center of the dome. Clones don't need a lot of light.

I don't touch them for 14 days. Rarely does the Pro-Mix dry out in that high level of humidity. After 14 days, I can see new growth tips and I start opening the dome vents to introduce some air. Within 3 days, the dome lid is off and they are going on their own.
