Darkness before harvest

Hello everyone.
I have read that it is good to go dark for 2 days before I chop them down. I'm curious if this is a good idea and why? Appreciate any help.
Thanks

Honestly it may possibly be folklore, but many people swear by 36-72 hours of darkness prior to harvest. I personally harvest anywhere from 10-24 hours of darkness depending on my schedule. I do like to harvest with at least 8+ hours of darkness, as it really does seem to help the dry time as the water in the plant heads to the root zone.

Now the theory behind long dark times before harvest is this... Trichomes & Bud are produced at night time, so a long dark period would possibly give a boost to both before harvest.

I suggest do some testing of your own and get a feel for what your plants do and what your schedule and space give your the ability to do.

Nothing will be gained from the darkness for this time, there in dark while drying thats all they need

The theory is also that a stressed plant near full maturation will push its every remaining resource into reproduction before its death. Interrupting the light cycle with persistent darkness for several missed light cycles makes the plants focus most of its energy into reproductive means.
