Cutting the stalk

What do you all use for chopping down your plants? I remember having trouble with his last time. I have some Brutus the barber beefcake cutters but they weren't great at cutting down my tomato plants. Saw? I got some thick plants

I use wire cutters.
I have a plant right now that the stalk/trunk is as thick as my wrist...when the time comes to chop I might have to break out the chain saw.
