Curing the "proper" way

I have been reading alot of mixed information lately and need a few questions answered if anyone feels up to it.

Everyone is saying let the stem snap...more advanced growers are saying let the stem still be bendy but the buds dry.

Which is the right way?

Second thing is the whole curing process 15 min every 5 hrs seems a little generalized to me....

I have also read that during curing you should open them every 5 hrs when the buds moisten back up then leave the jar open until it begins to smell sweet again and repeat that process...

Can someone break it down for me?:wall:

the problem some people are having is they dry there bud to much or to long. Then when put in jars there is very little moisture to make it a slow dry. Curing slows the drying process, giving time for the inside and outside to dry evenly. Some chemicals in the plant break down and certain cannabinoids are activated.

I would say put your buds in jars when the outside gets crispy and when the stem is getting tough. You must check them every hour or so and let them lay out if they are wet. Work your way up to opening them once a day until the outside gets nice and dry. Once the grass smell goes away after 2 weeks you can start burping jars only every couple days. When your buds are dry to your liking you can store in cool dark place.

No the buds go in and out of case like tobbaco.Ive cured hundreds of jars and know better than to put wet smoke in a jar.It will rot overnight and ruin 5 months worth of hard work ............peace

Thanks for the input I am stoaked I just trimmed up 2 plants down to manageable sizes shits looking Superb! Gonna let them sit out stacked on a 20 gal tubaware lid about 2 ft under a fan the rest is being hang dried they are getting rough on the stem buds are crisp but not too crisp one more night of drying for them and another day or two for the rest :D.

u dry till the stem snaps, then u cure, opening the jar once or twice a day for 5 mins. Its not complicated, the worst thing to do though is not dry long enough and try to cure wet buds.

Personally I think you are probably right. But I know from exp that when its bone dry it smells like ass(not the good kind) the buds have been curing about 12 hrs and still smell like the back side of a babies ass(the good kind). Not to mention they are doing very nice not too moist at all I am opening every 3 hrs atm though and leaving it open for about 20 min.

I just needed the whole stem part clarified and no its not complicated its a slow drying process that is why the whole drying out the stem and all seemed odd to me...

Oh and to the fan comment lol I know man I had it a good 2 ft under the fan no direct air on the buds just good circulation.

I've been curing a large quantity. I trimmed all of it and hung them for seven days on the stems. After a week of drying I snipped most of the buds off the stems and filled turkey bags with about a half pound each. I untie every bag and leave them open for about an hour a day. Been doing that for about a month. I probably would have used jars but I just had too much weed. Things seem to be working out well. This is my first grow so we'll see.
