Curing/Harvest?

Hey guys,

So I just watched ultimate grow and when he cures the plant/or dries at the end, he hangs them up in a dark room for 5-10 days and looks pretty good.

Then I watched ready set grow from high times, and when it comes to the curing part, he said he dampens it every day and if it gets dry, it becomes crumbly and dry and showed it.

And the guy who won the cannabis cup, would put his in a draw or something and said 4-8 months to make the taste better (maybe that was after he dried).

So Im a bit confused, I though you just hang and dry for a week in a pitch black room.

Any help?

Thanks guys

The idea is you quit watering your plant when your ready to pull it. After a day or two you take it down hang it upside down until it dries, some say to the stem snap I do my just until it seems dry to the touch.I do keep mine in my basement which is totally dark. I'm not real sure if that makes a difference or not it just so happens that my basement is dark. Then I put it in canning jars, I personally have a little pump and it pumps all the air out. If you don't have a pump then you would open the jars every day and just let new air in. Then you do this day after day. Some people only cure for a week I cure mine a little over a month. I didn't used to cure at all and I'm telling you it makes a huge taste and high difference. If they are crumbling I would say they are too dry and probably were from the beginning. The putting water in there seems a bit loopy to me. Why would you need to put water in there? I don't get that at all. Around here on RIU we don't really hold High times in high esteem. So don't quote them too much. Her is a link to that little pump so you can see what i'm talking about sealer

thats cool mary jane, so with that you don't even need to burp the jars every day?

Thanks Mary Jane. Great advise. Yeah, they would hang, then wrap in a damp cloth for 4 hours and then hang again. its on youtube, ready set grow vol 1, part 6 or 7.

Is there anything else apart from a jar to put it in?

I think the curing will probably make a big difference in taste and high, just like I do with my tobacco, or even something like letting beef hang for the much softer and better taste. These little things make a huge difference.

Any other idea would be great to compare and gain knowledge :p
