I harvested my Master Kush buds about two weeks ago. Did the manicuring and hanged them upside down on hangers for about a week. I could tell it was dry after a week because I bent a stem and it snapped.

So I put them into seal-tight jars and opened it two-three times a day for a couple minutes. It's been a week now and I tried out a test bud and it has a nasty taste to it. It also smells very earthy or like a fresh cut lawn. Is this normal for everyone??? Does this smell eventually go away?? PLease help

Typically a cure of about 2 weeks is neccessary for the smell to fully realize...then the longer the stronger. Just give it a lil bit longer(way easier said than done :P)..the buds will only get better.

when burping the jars... make sure agitate the buds a little... circulate fresh air between them... might help, also helps prevent mold.

you trim them up nice and good? sometimes a bunch of leaves in with the buds will smell kind of funny until the real scent can grow and permeate them.

get rid as much leaves as possible. Your probably keeping leaves that have a lot of frost on it that's why.

If your buds were real thin and airy and they have dried to a crisp. Ya cannot cure them once they are dry as hell. If they were airy ya should have put them in the jars earlier. Cureing just slows the drying process down to a crawl. If they are already dry as hell when goin in the jars it will not do any good.

I hope ya get what i am saying.

so if it won't do any good, does that mean i can't cure it now? or i have to rehydrate them and then cure it?

Once they are dry. One can get them moist again but one cannot cure them. They are now dried and cured. They are done.

open it for 8-10 hours a day instead of 2-3 and do this for 3 days then see if there is a difference.

This realllly sucks.. that when bud gets fully dried for the first time that it's done curing. I don't see how remoisturizing the buds and then slowing down the drying process by jar-ing them wouldn't work.. Sorry I'm not a botanist but logically this would make sense.

Soil grows flush for 2 weeks before harvest then cut the entire plant down after doing a quick trim before cut getting most the fans and large stuff off so just a rough manicured plant is hanging. After 3-7 days cut the buds from the branches then finly manicure them nice and neat. If the stems dont snap yet 2-3 days on a screen light fan blowing on them til the stems snap not bend. Then they go into jars not packed but spaced and loose so they can breath. Open jars 15 -20 minutes twice a day watch to see if moisture forms on the glass inside.Dont want them to be crispy but firm and dry to the feel. The hay grass smell is from the break down of chlorophyl.I cure minimal 30 days.Jars should be kept in the dark in a cool place while curing as light andd heat break down the thc. The longer the cure the better the smell and smoke. You should only have to open the jars maybe the first week of the cure then seal completely. I like to shake the jars a little during the open times and blow down into the jar to exchange the air.If you got them too crispy an orange peel in the jar for a day will help revive the moisture so they arent so crisp and will give a slight citrus smell too but dont leave it in to rot and must be a clean peel no meat from the fruit

Thanks what a response. But according to DirtyBoy, if the buds are over dried when hanging, the buds are already cured and cannot be rehydrated to cure again. Is this true????? if so, i'm shit outta luck.

The buds should be fairly dry when you put them in the jars, the insides should have a little moisture... which is the point of the jars to bring the little moisture out and spread it evenly through out the buds.Unless your buds are dry, crumbling, and just turning to keif then yeah your fucked. but from sounds of it i doubt it.I would just keep them curing in the jar except give it more open time during the day and close it over night for about 2-3 days and you should see a big improvement. Are the buds super dry right now or wet. If they smell like cut grass then there wet and to get more time to air out and dry. If you don't trust me heres some more info:mrgreen:

You can rehydrate dry weed. Just hang a strip of wet paper towel or rag into the jar or whatever container, let sit a day, then check. You may have to shake them up and repeat another day..
Basically a humidor....

Well you can rehydrate the buds and then slow dry and recure to help make them better. Its not so good as a proper cure but its still a cure afterwards.
