cultivation prescription friend or foe?

just wanted to hear some of your thoughts on cultivation prescriptions in states where growing medical MJ is "legal". I've been growing for quite sometime and have been a medial patient for even longer... what I want to know, is it a burn for me to optain a cultivation prescription if I wanna grow more plants? I've heard it's a burn but I've also heard it's a lifesaver in court? any suggestions?
I was told it defends you... but doesn't protect you... damn federal laws.

Depends on what court you're in. The feds wont care about a doctor rec if they get you with 200 plants and can easily prosecute. You would be safe in court at the state level if you follow the local laws.

Definitely a legal gray area. In California you can be a caregiver and grow someone's plants for them if they have a script and designate you. But there needs to be a past history of medical assistance beside dropping off cannabis.

Cover your ass.

EDIT: Read the laws, you don't need to pay more for a special recommendation.
