Is it relatively futile to identify a cultivar via a rollitup forum thread with pics?
I'll take any answer off-the-air.
I have a new varietal that has a distinctive wide leaflet morphology that has made me insatiably curious.
Perhaps I'll post a "guess the morphology (& speculate on the rest) thread with pics.
So far, I know this new cultivar, like my current cultivar, is a hybrid.
haha.

I am seeing some genetic testing services resulting from my searches. Are those good enough, yet?
Last thought... Gosh I know there's lot to unpack here. Here's a big one.
When I speak to some serious breeders, I learned that sometimes they don't disclose every cross. Perhaps the idea is to avoid releasing proprietary info. I guess the logic is that somebody could reproduce their "custom" varietal. Is hiding a cross input a widespread behavior? If so, does that make any effort to identify a cultivar and for that matter seedfinder pretty much speculation and guessing? Hit me with the truth.
