Cross breeding genetics?

Ive been growing bud for about four years and im still skeptical on how to cross breed different strains. Also, if I crossed a Auto flowering strain with a normal strain would it auto flower or would I have to repeat the process to see affects? Thanks for the help in advance.:mrgreen:

Some candles, a Barry White C.D. and some alcahol!

You can leave them in the same room and the male will pollinate the female. Or you can keep the male in a seperate area, once the pollen sacks are ready put them in a film container. With your fans turned off, get a small watercolor brush and brush the pollen on a female bud. You might want to remove the female from your grow area while you do this. I put a ziploc over the pollinated bud for 2 days so the other buds don't get pollinated.

Yup. But remember, any hairs that get pollen will produce a seed. Thats why you might want to remove it from your grow area before you pollinate.

if i just transplant a male into a spot with my female will it flower naturally or do i have 2 use the brush
(I'm growing outdoors)

naturally it should , but it wouldnt hurt to make sure you get full pollenation manually.

It will get pollinated but the seeds will be spread randomly all over the plant. When you use the brush you choose what buds will have seed. This makes it easier to get them and the rest of your plant will be seed free.

yea that makes sense but if you were to repeat the process with the same varibles wouldent it give it a 100% heterozygous for autoflowering?:mrgreen:

Really? Thats cool I thought if you spread pollen on 1 bud all the buds will grow seeds. And wont pollenating a plant stress it in some way and have a chance of turning it hermie?:mrgreen:

actually it should give you 100% het in the first place. i goofed and did a het for autoflower against a homo normal flower. my miscalculation.


if an autoflower was crossed with a homozygous normal flower youd get 100% hets. from there crossing a het back against the autoflower would give 50% hets 50%auto. doing het x het would give you 25% normal 25% auto and 50% het.

not sure what you mean by repeating the process with the same variables. Doing a normal x auto over and over again should give the same results. Youd need to cross the correct offspring back on the auto.
