To be honest, I think it was actually pretty smart. Being an enormously popular and casual area, a mall would make a great front for such illicit activity. Who's going to suspect something so obvious? Not to mention, it's zoned for commercial use, so I bet the high electricity use and thermal heat signatures were probably shrugged off.

They didn't say in the video how the police caught on, but I'm guessing it was word of mouth. Let this be a lesson: Loose lips sink ships.

It said they were stealing power from the main mall. Most busts seem to come from people getting caught that way lately.

Maybe they noticed a suspicuoisly higher than normal draw somewhere, breakers tripping that shouldn't, or whatever and went looking for the problem.

Loose lips maybe, but I put odds on power getting them caught.

Perhaps. It could very well be that the electricity company is able to note the consistent increase/cut of electricity on intervals of 12/12 and 18/6. That sticks out a bit, eh?

I give it 1 in a million odds they noticed the electricity. Not only would the electric company not notice, but they don't even have the power to monitor what's on in your home or business, and at what times. The only input your home or business gives the electric company is a kw/per hour reading.

Adrenaline I couldn't agree more. One of my friends always says "The closer you are to danger, the further you are from harm." Which I've found to be true plenty of times.

They were obviously tipped off, considering they declined to say how they found it... you better believe the DEA is quick to take the glory. Usually it's "Undercover DEA agents have been on the case since july."

But what I love the most is how the media and the gov. work together to slip people hook line and sinker propaganda. "Officials said the wiring was a fire hazard, and the are could have exploded at any moment." I bet if you let an electrician look at the wiring he would say it was fine, just because you had to wire your lights it must be a fire hazard. Not only do they discredit peoples ability to wire lights, they try to make growing marijuana comparable to a meth lab, saying it could blow up at any time. I love how the public that doesn't really know anything about pot can be misled, and blatantly lied to by the gov. and media.

*Meanwhile...in the time it took to take care of all this, at least 3 more grow rooms were started. I guess the DEA feels fighting a losing battle is worth the money. The war on drugs is like Viet Nam, except they just won't send the troops home lol.

America loves to give the illusion to is inhabitants that they have everything under control. Mind control and fear were discovered to be great allies of the powers that be a long time ago. By showing shit like this and using big words and fear tactics like" the room could explode" and "faulty wiring" and millions of dollars of pot, the masses will think, hey something was accomplished.

This war on drugs shit that so much money gets spent on is a joke too. Seems like every year america wins the prize for most drugs consumed!!!

The war on drug is being "lost" to the point where they'll never be able to stop drug use, but the DEA and other agencies are def. winning when they seized Houses,cars,bank accounts ect.. Go vote for Obama and weed will be less of a crime, go for McCain and it's another 4 years of this shit!

From Carter to the last Bush, nothing has changed. Many think bush did coke even after gaining the presidency. If he did or didn't while in the house he sure as FUCK did at some point and he still didn't think enough about his fellow man to change anything in the war on drugs. He skates through life as an admitted coke user and does NOTHING to change things. Carter, who many would think the better man (I hope) also ultimately did NOTHING.

I wasn't suggesting the power company noticed the draw on the electricity, just that someone very well could have. It doesn't take some super computer looking for patterns in 12/12 usage spikes. All it takes is the leg your fed off of showing 6kw/hr more than all the meters downstream add up to. Eventually someone will go looking for why things don't add up.

You add 6kw plus to a circuit that shouldn't be there and someone WILL notice.
