i am setting up a new box.. i will be using 2 cpu fans.. do the fans need to be on opposite sides of the box..? i'm using one intake and one exhaust.. can i have both on the same "wall" or side of the box.. or will it cause a problem with the air flow..?

Not an ideal set up but think it would work ok if the logistics makes it impossible to do otherwise. In a perfect world you would be intaking fresh air and exhasting stale air. I have the same problemo at times due to light leakage. They become sort of a captive audience if you get my drift. Doesn't seem to hurt em as long as the temps are kept reasonable. Trouble with moving the captive air around is the heat build up, or seems so to me anyway. Leave the door open to let them get some fresh air when you can. Happy growing.

i think i could have explained it better.. i will be using 2 cpu fans.. but one will be on the top near the top of the box for exhaust.. and the other will be at the bootom for intake.. for fresh air.. but i am thinking that the 2 fans being on the same wall would create a problem.. or would they?

if you absolutely have to you can put them both ont he same wall. its better to put them on opposite sides so the air flows in over the plants then out the exhaust

i figured the more air getting in the better.. but.. i guess i can just use both for exhaust.. and put them at the top of the back wall.. and put a passive intake in the bottom of the door..

alright.. well thanks.. and any sudgestions on how i can hide the light coming out of the cpu fans.. and disguise the passive intake vent.. also so no light is seen out.

I had both intake an outtake (cpu fans) on the same wall and there was never an issue with stale air or temps so yea it can be done without a problem, I grew in a stealth wardrobe by the way lol i actually had the back of the wardrobe against the wall and the fans inside the room so i could block light with a black shirt cut for size and had pinholes in it for ventilation and it worked like a charm just me though. You cant see the fans in the pic but there there haha

awesome... thanks smokeymc.. that's a good idea but i will be haveing 5 cfl lights and 10 or so small plants.. so i want to get all the air i can.. would a large pvc plumbing elbow be any good.. just gue it on over the outside hole and the black pipe.. plus the curve would take away the light right?

if possible put a air duct on the exhaust fan so that your not just recycling the same air and therefore not getting fresh new co2 rich air. the ducts are about 8ft long and about 4$ at anywhere like homedepot, canadiantire etc

Also if your grow room has the space put another duct so that intake comes in lower and at the opposite end as the outtake.

however though, it should be fine, iv always found ventilation to be something not to worry about as long as you have a bit and have never had any problems.

that sounds like an even better idea i would still put a cpu fan connecting the pipe for air movement but that's just me and if you had the elbow facing down you might be able to eliminate most light i cant believe i never thought of that before to late know tho lol

i have scrapped the elbow idea and have put the 2 cpu fans for exhaust on the right wall ... on the left part of the floor(opposite the fans) i have put abot 15-20 holes about 1/4 inch in size for the passive intake...
instead of elbows covering the outside of the fans i have used a kitchen vent type system..
it is about 10" long by 4"wide.. and it blocks the light quite well... (it's a homemade job from aluminum sheet metal.)

not sure if that is enough holes for intake, listen to the fans when the grow is closed and when you open the door,if the fans sound strained when closed, you wont be getting the best airflow.
also you might consider some sort of filter(even cloth) to make sure no critters(spidermites) enter from the intake.

ok.. last night i just drilled the 1/4" holes to 1/2" holes.. for better air flow.. also i will be hooking up the fans either today or tonight.. because i have to see if the paint on the inside of the box is dry (white paint
