Coverage $$ for meds...

I'm interested on getting some input on this topic, without the inevitable vote Trudeau in and get rid of Harper posts....you're preaching to the choir with those comments.

I think the whole mmj complexion will change if we are to get coverage for meds, from either the government or insurance companies. So this is what little I know...

Veterans affairs is covering the cost for vets with PTSD and pain management.
How did VA convince Harper to pay for this? Are there any other groups that the government are paying for?

Workmans Compensation, or whatever its called, any reported cases of coverage here?

I know some insurance companies have covered some claims, but I don't have details. Any known cases here?

There is some government coverage in Holland, and I know the CEO of Bedrocan has been in the media pushing for coverage. There are lobby groups working on this.

Any information is appreciated.

There is zero chance that federal/provincial health plans will cover MMJ........that would equal free weed for the masses and a bankrupt government and country. Everyone and their dog would be paying the $300 online referral fees for a lifetime of free or heavily subsidized weed.

As far as private health plans go, I think things will slowly progress on that front with more clinical research to back it up, and greater social acceptance. Progressive companies looking to attract leading-edge employees, or companies that are involved in the MMJ sector will likely be the first to start offering MMJ coverage in their benefit packages.

cost of pills vs cost of mmj.....eventually the mmj will win out. It's all about the $s
I believe even with coverage in Holland, there are only 5,000 odd participants.

Anything is possible, but I think there's a greater probability of the Maple Laughs winning a cup in my lifetime :D

Seriously though....the govt pays for the vets meds, I'd love to know who approved that. I would assume it had to pass over Harper's desk?
What about the RCMP, or other groups? It has to start somewhere, and it has with coverage for the vets. So I just see it as a matter of time.
Any info on this would be great to hear.

Veterans affairs I believe only covers up to the gov. max of 5 g/day . I personally haven't heard back from WCB yet, but I suspect it will have to go to the final level of appeal. But there are of course 3 other jurisdictions that do cover it. I don't think it will ever be covered by ins. companies..sad to say.

I think there is some coverage from insurance companies already, stories I've been told, and unable to confirm...

This is correct.... DVA authorises 5 grams a day max and also any medical equipment as in Vaporizers but only if it applies to a pensioned medical condition. This would apply also to public service and RCMP as they would also fall under similar coverage

yeah if there sick from what happened on the job ..... yes they should get their weed free. yes their RCMP but not everyone of them is a dick and normally the ones that are totally against weed would not even try MMJ. you should champion those ppl in these positions that would take MMJ because then it shows joe public that maybe it should be ok to use. . . . if "they" are doing it for their "medical issues" then I should too... sort of thought.

besides it's a start to having other health plans picking up the tab for MMJ which down the road helps more ppl in the long run..... your showing narrow mindedness for a "hippy"

I have a friend who sued ICBC for payment for cannabis after accident, and won. They gave him lump sum of over $50,000.

Well I'm not against them getting it. I just find it humorous that the RCMP will bust ya. But at the same time they may use weed in a paid for plan....sorry but that's askew.
Yes I'm for the whole planet using MMJ if they want to...not narrow minded.
Your right, the more people using it for their health issues the better. Even cops, correct
I know lots of cops are decent. I hope they all tell their bosses...fuck prohibition on cannabis !

What makes you think it was Harper's idea or that he even has a clue it is happening? It probably started with the MMAR programme, which was started by the Liberals, IIRC.

I didn't say it was Harper's idea. I said I would love to know who approved it. I said I would assume it had to pass over his desk.
Harper not having a clue that it is happening?...you are joking right?

I will assume you just misread my post.

plausible deniability ...lol
the government approving of anything ...that will cost them in the long run ...is a stretch at best...and they never want to...
they always know though....
also when it comes to our vets.....they have had to fight hard to get and sometimes keep what they have been given....when it comes to any kind of recognition of service or medical benefits....etc..
and they deserve it...with out question....
also never sits well with the public when...the government tries to deny them something they have earned or deserve...(political suicide)
