I know it sounds stupid but for only 2 or 3 plants, could you use 4 or 5 150 wat clear light bulbs? This would be my first grow and i dont wanna spend tons incase it dont work.
Could you use clear 150w normal bulbs?

i feel like the best bet you want something inexpensive it would CFLs, although i'm not too sure what clear light bulbs are

You can get away with using CFLs for the vegetative stage and although not as good as HIDs the plants will grow. However, during flower if you do not use HIDs you will end up with air bud, however it will work, just not very well IMO.

not true. its just not. proper use of a cfl array will produce good buds. Any word otherwise is just false.

Im going to be growing in a box, so 4 soft light 70W house hold lights is out of the picture? How much would one CFL light cost? i am only growing 2 plants in a box.

I suggest these from home depot, if you're on a budget. 100 watt cfls in the 6500k range. their 17 bucks each, and saves you space instead using lots of little ones if you ask me.

These are the cheapest I've found. I was gonna buy a few hundred watts for a high-wattage stealth grow. Heck, $60 worth will get you about 756 watts. I'd go with these.
