Could My Subscription to High Times Magazine Get Me Busted?

I've enjoyed reading High Times Magazine for many years now. Hell, I await its delivery every month and pretty much read it from cover to cover on the day it's delivered...

Is there any REAL chance that subscribing to this magazine could get me busted for growing?

I paid for subscription with my debit card...

I am sure you are on a "list"

The NSA can simply scan for credit cards/debit cards that transacted with that payee and you would be on it.

Aint technology grand??

Yeah, bummer. Data mining is a relatively new technology, but it's here to stay...

If I was you I wouldn't get it sent to the address your grows at, just like never getting seeds sent to my place... But then again ordering a subscription to a mag isn't a criminal offence... But it may provide a window of insight though to LEO...

Are you allowed to opt out of smart meters is Oz? I'm glad I live in such a ghetto area that the meters are still analog. I'd hate to waste $50. But I would.

We can, they put them in all new construction, you have to pay to get an analogue one, but i'm lucky a lot of my mates are electricians and i'm halfway through an electrical licence, just taking this year off to chill bongsmilie so I've spoken to many about all the cons re: smart meters and for me the cons outweigh the pros... Same reason I don't have wifi turned on in my house, cable does just fine for me... I don't want my usage being broadcast every 30mins to wherever... I feel the current system is adequate and smart meters will just add to data mining efforts.

I remember the days when people feared this due to Operation Green Merchant . Long ago I rode on the city bus to the hydro shop dressed in a disguise due to fear lmao ! It was not so funny though at the time .

Operation Green Merchant

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Operation Green Merchant was the code-name for a nationwide investigation and operation targeting businesses advertising specialized horticultural equipment that was supposedly used to grow cannabis in the 90s.[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP][SUP][3][/SUP]

Background[edit source | editbeta]

The DEA had decided to investigate the advertising inside the High Times with the goal of shutting down the blooming indoor marijuana industry usingUnited Parcel Service records to trace deliveries of indoor growing equipment and seeds.
The three key targets of Green Merchant were the High Times Magazine, Sinsemilla Tips and the Holland's Seed Bank owned by Neville Shoenmaker.[SUP][4[/SUP]

The very first Grow Chamber was introduced on High Times. And I looked at it.

The catch was you had to send in a soil sample after you started your grow so they could send you the proper nutes.

And I thought they meant arrest warrant. I was sure it was DEA.

"They" have more productive things to target then your magazine subscription.
Well, I wish. But, I don't agree. We have to understand the system of rewards. A young Federal Prosecutor, will do all but die to make her bones off the back of High Times. And maybe if she is lucky and good, she can get an injunction against the magazine. If she can get that for 1 day before it gets shot down, by a higher court, her career is made for life.

The subscription holder....State's Evidence? Would you turn that down?

BTW, I absolutely hate, High Times. Like Rolling Stone, sold out from Day 1.
