Cool tubes

I'm not exactly sure what a cool tube is but I get the idea. Is this another form of venting but just into another room? And if so would it be safe to do so into an empty attic? Also where could I find one, are they part of some other equipment?

a cool tube is a glass tube that surrounds the light bulb in a hps or mh setup and directs vent air around the bulb.

This is the newbie section!!! This is kinda like an informed google search so WTF!!! If you feel like this is a waste of time why are you even looking at this section?
To answer your question! Yes the tube is used to vent the heat from the light out of the grow area. Venting into an attic if in a cold climate will, cause major damage to the structure with moisture, also will melt any snow on the roof, a dead giveaway that there is a grow. Best not put it in the attic if dont have to IMO.

Thanks for the back up :P haha ah right , so would the heat be takin straight from the bulb out of the room? and would this only apply to a large grow?

heck I just shelved my cool tube... you folks got me thinking in terms of bud production vs the cost of an OZ....if a better reflector gives me even 1/2 an oz more than its paid for itself off the grip.... might be worth it to go check out a few threads on the better reflectors (with integrated cooltubes)

I use a regular square reflector with a 6" side take off (used on ducting) cut into the reflector, flex pipe is attached to that. it works well, cut room temps by 10-15c, and cheap lol.

I also appoligize lol I had just read a post on another site about some of the people on here giving newbs a hard time so was a bit sensative lol. But it does happen and yes a bit more effort by newcomers to locate answers would be nice but I figure this is a place for all questions. When I first started to post here it was sometimes not a pleasant experience lol. Not that expect us all to be running through our patches naked spewing flowers petals and love lol. It would be quite a site to see me doing it lol. Homer as a flower child hehehe! Perhaps a video lol!!!
