G'day guys.

How i can control plant height, if i start growing some plants how will i know if its going to fit into my box when its fully grown.

does the plant only grow to the height of the light or can the plant out grow the box.

Thank you.:bigjoint:

If you have proper lighting your plant will double to triple in size during flower. So switch it to flower when it is about 1/3 of the maximum height you want it to be. 1/2 the height if you want to live dangerously but remember to leave space for between the light and the top of the plant. At least 1 foot.

how tall do plants get if you 12/12 from seed? I have a unknown bagseed strain and a WW and auto ak 47

to control height you can LST, or top. but as one of the previous posters said, your plant/s will double or even triple in size when you switch to 12/12...

Have you already started this 12/12 grow? Because I've heard it's better to veg for a couple weeks and then switch. A seedling will not be sexually mature enough to flower until it is at least 2 weeks old so all you are doing is depriving it of light if you are doing 12/12 before that. I've seen a couple 12/12 from seed grows and the grower would have been better off just vegging normally a couple weeks. Very important for developing the roots which are what ultimately creates big buds.

Well I'm not sure what type of high you prefer, but if you grow a mostly indica strain it will stay shorter than a sativa strain. You can grow both, but the sativa would have to be vegged for a shorter period of time.

I would say as a rule of thumb that if you vegged a indica to 12" it would double in size and a sativa would probably quadruple in size. You could always tie them down and low stress train them too.

just as a reference for you, i changed the time over to 12/12 with my plant at 24 inches tall. Now, well shes just over 5 ft tall, thank god for friends growing same as me at the same time as me....wound up with ballast probs and had to relocate her to his place.

So once i get to the selected height for the veg switch to 12/12.
and select a indica strain for a smaller height.

Mostly strain dependent. But.
Plant height can be better controlled if you can control heat well. During the forst 2-3 weeks of flower plants "stretch". If you can keep the day temps and night temps relatively close (within 5 degrees F if possible) Then you can minimize the stretch. After the 3 weeks has passed go back to the cooler night temps

I have another question..

once flowering has began is 18/6 better then 24 hour light?

when should i change from 12/12 over to 18/6 or 24?

i know this is most probably listed somewhere on this forum but i cant seem to find anything.

18/6 is for veg
12/12 is for flowering

I used "Bushmaster" to help control height. My girls didnt like it too much BUT! they have stayed short :) for sativas

so i germinate the seeds, then i veg with 18/6 once i get to my selected height i switch to 12/12 to encourage flowering then switch to 24? right?

as you can see I'm a novice to this and still learning.

thank you all for your comments so far.

nope, once you flip to 12/12 you stay at with that light cycle until the plant is finished.

18/6 and 24/0 is for vegging. They have pretty much the same results IMO. Its up to you really.

ohh ok, so i can either choose to do 18/6 or 24/0 during veg and continue that though out the plants cycle.

thank you very much. :dunce:

you only go 18/6 or 24/0 for vegging. Once you reach your desired height you switch to 12/12 to start the flowering cycle. Your plant will then double or triple in size.:leaf::leaf:

got ya now.

18/6 or 24/0 for veg
