Containing smell with a carbon filter?

Hey all, how's it going?

I was curious as to all my grows have been outdoors far from civilization so smell isn't an issue.

If I were to grow 3-4 plants indoors using a scrubber how much would it smell?

Would growing in a cab/tent and venting out into the room with the scrubber smell much? Or would I be better off venting out of the windows? Or maybe I should use two scrubbers?

Don't want any nosey neighbors causing trouble.

Thanks guys, I hope you RIU well this weekend.

Scrubber may be a bit overboard, if your meaning of "scrubber" and mine are the same (as in, dirty air in, bad air out). I currently run 6 plants in a grow tent, and I exhaust the tent with an inline duct fan which blows the air directly into my own DYI carbon filter I built with some duct tape, pantyhouse and some activated carbon you can get at walmart (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Aqua-Tech-Activated-Carbon/10313138), and never had a problem. Smell is minimal. Just make sure your fan exhausts into your carbon filter before it leaves your grow area and you should be good-to-go with only 3 or 4 plants.

Good luck!!

Silly me, put scrubber when I meant a the walmart filter!

So 1 should be good for 3-4 plants? And would you vent into the room or out a window?

I vent into my basement and have never had a problem with my six plants, so you should be all set. I know there are a ton of DYI threads on carbon filters, they are pretty simple and cheap to build.

Good luck my friend!!

PS - after thinking about it if you can filter to outside (tapping the dryer vent, out a window, etc.) it would be that much better. But still send the exhaust through the filter.

Phresh filter, slightly bigger than the cubic feet you have to work with, eliminates 100% of the smell. I can vouch for this as i didnt smell a thing next to my tent until i opened it. I have a 5x5 w/ 6in h.o. canfan original thats 440cfm. I paired it with a 6×24in phresh filter and run it at 50%-75% with a speed control. I promise you bro, you will not be disappointed. I did not think it was going to be 100% effective but it was. Its so good I blaze inside the tent (so my kids dont smell) and none of the smoke leaks out. I can only speak on the quality brand. If you go the cheap route i can only imagine running into smell problems pretty soon into your grow.

do not tap into the dryer vent. the force of the scrubber fan will block the dryer air from exiting the home. I found out this from personal exp a week ago. I ended up cutting a new hole in my condo for my scrubber/basement air. I built a moster scrubber and cost about 150 total in parts and 1.5hrs of time. 6" inlet x 8"w x 30"l and has almost 200 ounces of premium activated charcoal inside. and can change the charcoal in about 4 minutes. ill try and get some pics up after work for you.

You have the right idea. 3-4 plants will create considerable smell in your home. Invest in a carbon filter to remove the odor. If you have the budget make it a Phresh carbon filter. I have one and I have zero smell with 6 plants in the closet of my home.

Careful with DIY because if it's not constructed correctly with the right hardware, it will fail and your grow might get discovered. Here is a pic of my setup. The carbon filter is inside the closet exhausted with a 4" inline fan to the attic. Fast, easy, done.

Phresh filter with sock removed.

Mount the filter and room exhaust up high to remove heat from the room.
