Combining light sources

I read somewhere that for flowering, Mh is will work, HPS is better, and Both are best. Is this true?
And if thats the case, how would one go about combining the two for even coverage of BOTH light sources? (Obviously, a light mover would work, I can't really justify that to the wife right now, she's already flipped about me cutting holes in the floor, adding ventilation, ripping carpet out, and framing walls in our "guest room") Right now, I have 2 HPS up, but want to add an MH to the mix.
Seems to me there will be an area that has both combined lighting, but the outer areas will be either HPS or MH.

use hps all the way if u can. u can bud with metal halide but itsnot gonna be dense and not nearly asmuch yeild. Hps from start to finish.but if u wanna use both put a metal halide on the sides and hps on top. or use metal halide all th way till flowering then put hps on top. but i'd recommend using hps all the way. no need for mh

Well then, I'll just put up another HPS. My concern was coverage area. I am down to 3 tall plants, and I want them inside the circle of max coverage, not in the outer areas of light. Under the 2 lights, parts of the plants were in the outer margins, unless I squeeze them together, and (at least to me) they looked like they were crowded. I'd rather have more light than necessary than not enough. Thanx for the reply.
