Colored lights (CFL)

so i went over to a friends house and sat down on the bed, looked across the room and in a lamp there was a blue cfl, a thirteen watt, i was wandering if i had enough blue for veg, would they make any affect, same with red ones in flowering?
would anyone know about this?

Yes CFL's come in a couple different spectrum's. Blue, red, white, or cool, warm and bright white. I forget the Kelvin rating but generally CFL's come in those three spectrums.

they also do purple ones. a blue and red spectrum. so u could use it for veg an flower.

i know that,

Blue is 6400k
Red is 2700k
Purple is 25,000k

noooooo, the color of the bulb itself was jsut like blue....
i dont think it has to do with spectrum just a like blue party light,
i was just wandering if they'd make a difference...

oh. i guess if the bulb is blue and it emits a blue spectrum then it wouldnt do any harm.

although it would be minimal difference.

Why pay X $'s more for a colored light, when you could get a 46W bulb for same price ?? Makes no sense...A plant will be attracted to ANY light, even a candle, but that means shit....you need blue & red....buy a light there cheap..for $23.00 you can get 2 X 26W & 1 X 46W...

i already have pleanty of cfls, i was just wandering if i swapped some out for equal wattage in a blue, if it'd make a difference, thanks all....

not in the UK.

only CFL's we can get are envirolites, ecolites, nlites which are £20 - 30 delivered per 125wat light which is like 40 dollars. so there is a difference.

the small tiny ones u yanks have, they are higher wattage, we can only get like 20watts max or something like that.
