Cold Air Return

Hello all,
The room I plan on using has a cold air return in it. Is there a source of filters to take care of at least some of the smell for the vent? Any ideas? I can't seem to find anything online about it.
Thanks

Carbon filter exhausting outside, yes. My thought is to minimize the smell from going into the cold air return and then through out the house.
Scented dryer sheets covering the vent and/or air freshener set in the vent can help.
Have you entertained the idea of a tent?

Good luck

I will be having a tent with carbon filter for the tent and room. But I assume that the smell will be drawn into the cold air return and then spread through out the house, which I don't want.

How can smell be drawn into the cold air return if you exhaust outside through a carbon filter?

I exhaust through a carbon filter into the cold air return to get humid air out of the room.

I'm just laying out the room right now; or trying to.

If your bringing in the air vs exausting it out i would suggest Getting a greenhouse hepa filter

than u know ur filtering out majority of the bad stuff or u could use a hvac filter if u make the filter a roof/prevent the filter from getting moisture. This is why I suggest greenhouse hepa vs hvac filter cause u can have it outdoors and even snow/rain and misc won’t fuck with it and u can reclean it
If it was me I would get a 8-10 inch version and have it with insulated ducting caude if u bring in cold air into hot room equals condensation. than have ur inline fan that brings in the air on the end connected to a temp triggered with probe and make it turn on when it hits above desired temps . This reduced so much hvac needs but also was super simple and cost effective.

I am planning on exhausting both from the tent and the room and drawing in air from the house. My hope is that this draw will keep the smell in the room and exhaust it out. If this works my only concern is the cold air return. I'll look into greenhouse HEPA filters.
Thanks for the suggestion.

The dryer sheets don’t sound like a bad idea if placed on the vents around the house that exchange this air. They’d be needing replacement every so often, but it’s a pretty cheap fix.
A 3-4 dollar box of sheets will last quite a while. Even if it’s 1 box per grow cycle. Not bad at all.

If you are pulling air from your homes cold air return, just keep the fan always on and smell won't travel backwards.

But if you are worried about it, just pull cooler air from the floor outside your tent....and don't hook into your cold air return at all.

Doesn't the cold air return take are from that room and recirculate it through out the house?

No, the cold air return pulls air back to the furnace/AC unit.

It doesn't really make sense to pull fresh air from there for a tent, IMO.

Right to the furnace/AC, then to the rest of the house. I was told since I will have a exhaust for both the tent and the room (exhaust going outside) that this difference in air pressure will pull air from the rest of the house.
