Coco coir vs other growing mediums what’s your preference

Hey everyone!

I’ve been experimenting with different growing mediums in my home garden here in Placentia, LA, and I’m curious to hear your thoughts. I’ve had great success with coco coir, especially with my Trithrinax acanthocoma palms. The drainage and aeration seem perfect for them.

What growing mediums do you prefer for your plants? Have you tried coco coir, peat moss, or something else? What are the pros and cons you’ve experienced?

I wouldn't grow in anything but Coco coir...........been using it for decades.

I grow everything in professional peat mixes now with 3 part dry fertilizer. I find it very simple to use the buffered mixes. I mix up a few barrels of nutes a week and the timer pumps into 1/4 sprayers every morning. Price is very reasonable, the local agricultural supplier charges about $25 a bale for whatever they source that year. Promix, Lamberts, Sunshine, Berger products have all done the trick.

I like coco fibre it gives good results and it's easy to work with.
Another bonus is it's recyclable numerous times with the same great results.

2+ year old 6/8 times recycled coco.

Another bonus is if you want there's coco that's better suited to seeds and clones and coco that's better suited to flowering with a higher capacity to hold nutrient like canna for example.

Coco coir or bust. I have not ever used anything else.
