Co2 and ventilation

I was wondering if its pointless to supplement co2 when you have an intake and outake running all the time, i could constanly put a small amount in 24/7 but some people say the co2 needs to sit on the plant for it to take positive affects. any input would be great, thanks

It'll be pointless if you are sucking all of the extra co2 out immediately. Is there a reason that you have to be constantly exhausting 24/7. On another note it is almost always better to run more exhaust than to run and exhaust and intake, the more air-flow the better especially for controlling temps.

yes its pointless because the added co2 will be vented out. however, if you area venting in air your plants are getting plenty of co2

Yep, pointless to suck it out as soon as you put it in.

I'd run a cool tube with it's own intake and output, that way you could keep the room cool, take care of the heat from the lights and shut down the other fans while you run the CO2 in the room. I'd do it in cycles during a lighting period.

It's not pointless, but you will go through a lot of co2, whoever said it needs to sit on the plant isn't exactly right, it works by flowing over the plant's surface. Also higher temps allow for more efficient uptake of co2, like 80-85 degrees.

alright thanks for the replies

lets say i have a grow box inside a closet, would it be possible to add plenty of co2 into the closet so that the box is taking in co2 from the closet but then spitting it back out into the closet through the exhaust. This would mean that co2 being sucked out would eventually be recylced back into the intake so any wasted co2 would go through again and again. I hope i explained myself well enough for you to understand.

ps i want constant airflow because i want to rid smell through the carbon filter

if i understand what you are suggesting you would not vent hot air that way and end up with heat problems.

It would create a heat problem, but to answer your question, essentially it should work recycling the co2, but the ventillation would be complete nonsence. It will get to hot without removing the hot air.

thanks so much for the info- howard, desert and wyte
its really helping me understand this.

putting the co2 aside since that maybe a lost cause until i can get more high end equipment, would i be able to just have my closet door open to get the hot, stagnant
air out? I'll probably have a pc fan for the outake and a passive intake, so just keepin the door open would let the warm air out i hope?

Yep, most closet grower using HIDs have to keep the door open when the light is on. Or put ducting into the attic.

A regular box fan works fine.

How big is the closet?

How big is the box?

Why do you have a box in your closet?

I'd just leave everything open, and blow air at it, but I grow in a huge space with a lot of lights. So what do I know :wall:
