Well lighting would be a good place to start with the room design. You have about 7 sq of floor space and your going to grow on shelves doubling your space to 14sq ft. You should plan on having 2,000 to 3,000 lumen per sqft and for optimal results 4,000 lumen per sqft going beyond that wont hurt the plants but it wont be alot of extra benifit either. You also need to keep in mind that heat maybe an issue in a small spot so you might not be able to use a HPS lamp even though they are the best choice yield wise.

Here are some bulb spec's and LPW stands for lumen per watt and the higher the LPW the more efficient the bulb is cost wise.

23w cfl =1550 lumens 67.4 LPW
26w cfl=1725 lumens, 86.34 LPW $1.50 to $2.50 ea
42w cfl=2800 lumens, 66.6 LPW $7 to $10
54w per (each 4ft bulb) T5= 5000 lumens, 92.59 LPW ($150 to $300 depending on # of bulbs and size)
65w cfl= 4000 lumens, 61.53 LPW $15 to $20 ea
85w cfl= 5000 lumens, 58.82 LPW $20 to $25 ea
100w Incadescent=1700 lumens, 17 LPW. under $1 ea
150w cfl = 8200 lumens, 54 LPW $35 to $50 ea
200w cfl = 1000 lumens, 50 LPW $45 to $50 ea
150w hps= 16,000 lumens, 106 LPW $70 to $90
250w hps= 25,600 lumens, 102 LPW $100 to $175
400w hps=50,000 lumens 125 LPW $250 to $350
600w hps = 90,000 lumens, 150 LPW $300 to $400
1000w hps = 140,000 lumens. 140 LPW $300 to $500 ea

oooo i meant to say i just want to start them off in veg in their so i can transplant outdoors and grow monsters, how many do you think i could keep in their after i pick off the slower plants?? Its himilayan gold, kings kush, and alaskan ice. 5 of each, i really want to make a room that has good ventilation but kinda secreticve and not so loud what can i do? Im going to mylar up the walls hang lights and exhaust into the attic quietly. Their going out on the 22nd of may and i want to start by the 15th of april. any ideas???Wouldnt it be better to start off with a MH or are they to hot??

for veg you would want to go with the 2100k spectrum cfl's or of you can keep the room cool enough with a HID lamp in it I would veg with a MH bulb and forget about the hps sence your just veging. If they are not feminized seeds I wouldnt pick away the small ones because the biger ones maybe male. Besides you have 7sq ft and germinated 15 plants total so 2 plants per sqft in veg. more than enough space to veg them all for a month or 2 before going outside.

Its not the wattage of what cfl's you use its the number of lumens per sq ft you want to be conserned with having 2,000 to 3,000 lumen per sqft. The lower wattage cfl bulbs are cheaper but you will need more of them.

kk so do you figure 8-10 in that small area will do the trick?? or should i try to get 3 or 4 t5's in their cause it does have the perfect wooden bar going threw the top middle so i can easily lower and raise them
