Closet grow= time+ rewards

It started this year in January, The Kid (34 yrs old) next door was moving out of state. For the past 3-4 yrs he had questioned me about my gardening skills and knowledge, I’m the guy in the sub-division who constantly has the plushest lawn and largest and most colorful flowers. On occasion we had spoken of growing pot while sharing a joint over fence in the back yard.
Prior to moving he gave me two plants one Indica, and one Sativa about 24-30 inches along with one 85 watt CFL. Being the gardener that I am I took the challenge not only keep them alive through the winter and flower outside, but also to propagate them.
In a rush to find space I pulled tools out of a garage closet approx. 2.5x4x6’ and tossed the plants in the closet with a light, heater, and fans, ok but not optimum grow conditions, by any means.
Over the past month I have attempted to upgrade the area, with the ultimate goal of sub-dividing into at least 2 grow areas.
1. For lights, I now have 2 additional 85 watt above the original plants along with 2-42 w & 2-23 w along the sides of plants, the clones have another 85w above all lights are on 18/6. I also have a 150 w HPS to be converted for use later.
2. The heater keeps the closet warm temps range from 77 day to 64 f during lights out.
3. Fans currently I have 3 computer fans blowing across the plants, I have been reading up on exhaust fans and will be installing one soon. (Suggestions, advice please)
4. The closet was painted flat white inside and sealed like a Class 4 Bio Lab, using hard board foam, caulking and spray foam, concrete floor covered with plastic which has a final layer of black roofing felt paper.
I have grown plants outdoors on and off for the past 40 yrs. with those grows I did little more than select a secluded sunny spot and plant, I did have some success. I’m not sure if it’s just me now taking things more seriously and attempting to do it the right way, or if it actually takes more work to grow indoors?
As enjoyable and rewarding as it is, I really had now idea this endeavor was going to be so time consuming.
Growing & waiting for Spring I hope to transplant outside the second week of April.
All & any suggestions are very much appreciated, thanks 4 reading……..

EXTRA TIME + MORE WORK = BEST RESULTS

I'm going to follow this along and see what you can do with these beauties. As far as exhaust fans go it completely depends on your budget. I'm going to give you some advice on three different types of exhaust.
1)You could have ducting running from inside your grow room to the outside, depending on how much air you want it to be pulling you may want to install a inline fan (expensive) or just a computer fan placed backwards in the ducting to pull air from the grow closet out somewhere.
-If you are going to do this method, then purchase or create a carbon filter, if your pulling the air outside be cautious, you have to cover your ends. The carbon filter would filter all the pot smelling air into a fresh air.
2)Simply cut a hole into the wall of the grow room and place a computer fan there, exhausting the air into the garage I believe.
-If you are going to use this method place your intake fans at the right places. You don't want the exhaust fans pulling out air on the same side the intake ones are because it would just be pulling the same air right back in.
3)Bathroom exhaust fan, works pretty well I would place it on the top of the grow room considering heat does travel up.

Question for you now, where did you get that double sided reflector? It looks like it is holding two bulbs, one on each end. Let me know and for how much?

I'll stay tuned and try to help you out as much as possible.

Thanks 4 your reply, I made the light out of a 2ft long 6 inch wide vent pipe, a cheep 2 light fixture and 2-85 w bulbs. The pipe I think might cost around 4-$5.00, I was lucky enough to find it at a close out sale for $1.00. The light fixture was purchased at H/Depot cost $4.97, the bulbs from Northern Tool & Supply $19.99 on sale, paint, wire ect, from around my garage. Hadn't thought about it before, total cost $46.00 + my labor.
I will add close up pictures of the when I get back home.
Thanks for the suggestion on the bath ceiling fans sounds great also inexpensive, will use them.
