Closet Grow Design

Hey!

It's time to design my closet. My last grow in the 2x2x5 box i built turned out really well. However the DIY carbon filter wasn't nearly what I needed. Anyway a 6" fan/filter combo kind of fell in to my lap. So being the only reason why my indoor has been at a stand still, I think it's time!

Btw, is a 440 CCm fan to big for tihs space?

35.5"x26.5"X87"

My idea is to have some kind of rotation this time. I managed to harvest a qp of dried herb from 3 plants my last grow, and I believe space restriction was a problem. If I could keep the same flower space but have a small veg/mother I think i'd be set. Take a look at the picture and toss some idea's.

Whoooaaaa! settle down, can't get through all the posts! :-P

Alright I'll toss what I had in mind out there first I guess haha. Where I think this fan is a little large for the area i wanted it to exhaust the full area with just the one fan. Maybe a flower chamber in the lower portion and a small veg/mother at the top. Vent the front of the closet, down low. Then just pull it through the flower up through the veg and out the filter into the laundry room. The room is unused in the basement so i figure this way I'll increase the full circulation of the basement too! Always good! lol.

Sooo, how to light proof the two chambers from one another and the front vents? Also, any ideas on how to block up the front with a nice, stelthy appeal. Just simply for the random parent drop ins etc. :)

I also never mentioned it's extremely easy to access the back of the closet as it juts into my laundry room. After this grow I probably will be upgrading to HID but for now I'll use the CFL I have kicking around from the last one. Which I found pictures to thanks to Rollitup for having it on their servers still! I thought they were gone!

Some pics of my first grow. 2x2x5 home built box. 200ish CFM bathroom fan I think it was. Some 400w of CFL's. Ended up with a qp of dry herbs. Didn't think it was bad for my first attempt. Took way to long to veg because of my now named "Drunk tripping of doom" night. Looked like palm trees when I looked the next morning. luckily it was early on.

Looks like a nice space for a garden. Up until recently, I've grown only in closets...and this one looks fine.

Personally, I don't think your fan is too big at all for that space. You can always tone it down with a speed controller (I really like having a variac connected to my S&P fan..with a phat filter attached, the sound is hardly noticeable at 50% power). If you weren't planning to exhaust through a filter (but, rather, connect the closet exhaust directly to your dryer vent - and outside, without any filter), then 440cfm would probably be overkill (but again, adjustable with a variac). Of course, all of this is dependent upon what size HID you plan on running. Have you decided yet? I've only run a 150w HPS (hood with enclosed ballast) in my closets before, but I would think a 250w (maybe even a 400w?) would be just fine with adequate ventilation in that space.

Just my $0.02 worth. Best of luck with however you decide to set it up.:weed:
