Cloning no ph down

I have a pretty good success rate cloning in rockwool and I've always ph to 5.5 but my ph pen stop working on me. So my question will I run into problems if I don't ph water for my rockwool cubes?

MAYBE. On the other hand, I know people who root their clones in pH 8, using potassium silicate. So I'm trying it because my success at 5.5-5.8 was spotty at best.

I just use tap water for clones in peat pellets No adjusting. Ours water sits around 6.5-7 and I've never not had a clone root.

I also give them the double whammy rooting gel and powder.

You could try rapid rooters/eazy plugs or any type of starter cubes for that matter. They have pH buffers in them, so it might be a good option. I remember I rooted a clone once in my 280ppm tap water with a 7.5 pH and it did fine. The fact that I forgot about it and found it two weeks later covered in mold is another matter.
