Clone only strains

Can someone please explain to me why there is such a thing as "clone only" strains? First of all, the strain came from a seed at some point, did it not? Secondly, with colloidal silver and other selfing techniques available, why does any strain have to be clone only? I've done the CS, and have 3 healthy plants a couple weeks away from harvest which appear in all respects to be identical to its parent(s).
So what makes a strain clone only?

but if you think about it. Sometimes there is a pheno thats one of those 1 outa 100 ones, you know.

try seeding it and finding that pheno again.

I only know of one strain and that is the legendary Matanuska Thunder Fuck (MTF). When the pigs raided the valley back in the 70's, they killed all the male plants. There were some growers that had females growing indoors so some of them were saved. With all the males gone, keeping the strain alive by cloning was the only alternative. It's still going strong, in fact I have a line on some clones right now.

wtf just because you can use cs on clone only strains does nt mean the bean your gettin is 100% the same pheno people have tried for years to do this shit and just because u got beans that look smell the same as the mother does nt mean jack bro believe me you ll neva get the same pheno as a clone only strain you might get close but not exactly the same

i agree. clone only strains are from a family in which the males are lost. you could cross it with another male from another strain but thats not the same strain at all. youll only get that strain from the clone. in fact breeding it at all will result in the loss of that strain.
