was interested if people could give advice on the best time to harvest plants?
Iv heard that when the lights are turned off that the nutrients ain't being used by the buds and are just stored in the leaves, stems and roots! so I was wondering if it was a better time to harvest in the morning as lights just turn on? Or if it really matters??

If your growing outdoors its best to pull right before the sun rises, and If your growing indoor its better to give your plant 24 hours or more of total darkness before chopping them down.
Yes its partly because most of the nutritients are in the roots at night, but also because your plant produces terpenes and flavanols over night only to release them during the day. They basically control how much and how fast certain cannabinoids enter parts of your body and blood stream, as well as how your bud will taste and smell.

Can you cite a source or study?

many folks believe it's best to cut down after at least 12 hours of darkness...but I have no source or study to prove this to be factual

Most aromas we associate with plants are the result of terpenes. Terpenes are major components of marijuana resin as well as make up the largest percentage of aromatic oils contained in most plants. Many plants, including marijuana, are used in different forms of therapy including but not limited to pain management, moods, and aromatherapy. While terpenes affect the brain in their own way, they also modify the effect of THC within the brain, adding subtleties to the high. Age, maturation, and the time of day can affect the amount, and perhaps ratios, of terpenes. - says Ed

Secreted in the same glands that producecannabinoids like THC and CBD, terpenes are the pungent oils that color cannabis varieties with distinctive flavors like citrus, berry, mint, and pine. Medical research on cannabis has so avidly focused on cannabinoids that we don’t know much about these aromatic compounds yet. However, we know just enough to realize that terpenes are the next frontier in medical marijuana. -link to info-

Ed is a pioneer and shares a lot of good info, but many criticize his findings for being unscientific and they're not peer reviewed. He's a hobbyist, after all, limited formal education and no degrees.

Take it all for what its worth- when I've cropped at different times its made no difference in the final product.

If you're growing outdoor you're probably harvesting all day.. Imo time of day doesn't really matter.
