Or you can just buy an over-sized used unit for $20 and let the automatic cycling take care of controlling it. Sometimes cheap brute force works just fine.

Get the kind with plain on/off and knob humidistat. The digital controller in some models will not auto restart after power interruption.

I like the drizair and phoenix units. Fantech makes a good commercial.

The cheap ones die in a year or two. Go with commercial if you want longevity.

I bought mine from walmart haier brand I set the humidity to what I want and it does it. My room is a 7wx12lx9h and my 100 dollar unit from walmart has not let me down. Mine has a autodrain hose you can screw onto it so the container does not fill w water. My problem was it still filled w water and and would cut machine off so I drilled a hole in the container and put a ebb and flow fitting into it w hose into drain and its the best shit ever. My buddy has some high dollar ideal air commercial dehumidifier ( i think he said 400 dollars) and its no better then what I got mine has been running for 3 years on and off its settings are in increments of 2 will go from 38% up to like 90%. If It has been set at 65 I turn down to 40 percent humidity then I cook dinner 30-45 minutes go back and humidity is at 40 percent .

I'm getting great results from a 99.00 wal mart window mount air conditioner. I have it running in the room (both condensor and evaporator coils) and added a drain to the bottom. I need it to run 100% so I just crank up the cold to keepo it on.

I have a wood's made in canada dehumidifier. It has 1 and only 1 switch, you turn it clockwise to turn it on and raise its power, turn it anticlockwise to lower it power then shut it off. I bought it in 2007, been running smoothly ever since does a great job in lowering RH

The 70 pint models are much more energy efficient than the 30-40 pint models. On the other hand if they are in a small space they will short cycle, but you can beat that by using a timer.
